That’s right, I said it… It could be worse…

With Cliff’s line about only having one ‘top-six’ forward, and no coach promise of “competing for the Stanley Cup” (although I suppose as long as you’re in the league you technically are competing for it), really low expectations have helped make 08-09 enjoyable for Leaf fans. But imagine you’re a Senators fan. You’re bombing hard, except not only did you not expect it, but you’ve got management that are fighting for their jobs NOT to finish in the Tavares sweepstakes. Craig Hartsburg sure as hell doesn’t want to deal with naked teenage rookies on the bus ride from Soo to Sudbury again… Brian Murray doesn’t want to have the spare time to  always run to the “depaneurs” to get his mom a 24 of “Labatt Bleue” up in Shawville..

In my opinion the whole guise of Ray Emery being the big cause of the Sens trouble last year really got to me. Every team likes a class clown guy, and any professional athelete who’ll eat a dead cockroach for $500 is alright in my books. Losing Chara, Redden, Andrej Meszároš, and Joe Corvo (two 1st pairing and two 2nd pairing defensemen) and replacing them with the likes of Jason Smith and Mike Commodore doesn’t help either.

The main reason for the downfall however is this:



YOU DON’T TOUCH THE PRINCE OF WALES TROPHY!! Honestly? It’s stuff like that makes people believe that Europeans are worse at captaining a team to a cup.

Oh, and while I’m on the rant of the Sens ruining themselves…



WHY??? Why does Heater make me waste the ninth overall pick in my fantasy pool?! Despite that fact that his stickhandling resembles Emeril dicing onions, and his skating  is about as graceful as this, he’s still a smart guy with a big shot that knows how to puck in the net at the highest level. Or atleast that’s what I thought.
